What mattered
The entrepreneurship recap reinforced the opening definition: take action under uncertainty, gather the people and resources needed, and potentially create something new. The broader definition includes entrepreneurial behavior beyond startup ownership; the slides contain the historical outline.
Most class time went to introductions and name practice. The name-learning extra-credit challenge was moved to September 3 as announced today; it remains worth one point on the final average.
Slack setup established how we will work together: use the course channel, reply in threads to keep discussions together, and use emoji reactions to acknowledge messages when requested. Messages are asynchronous—sending at an unusual hour does not require an immediate response. Check the course channel regularly, including class days. Grades belong on ELC; use UGA email for private grade questions.
Before Tuesday, August 25
- Finish joining the correct Slack course channel and setting up your profile: preferred first name, actual last name, a recognizable photo, and your course information. Install the desktop app; it was strongly encouraged to make checking messages easier.
- Obtain the course pack through the syllabus.
- Review the main syllabus tab for the Kahoot, postponed to August 25.
- Think about the next question: what makes a startup a startup?
